These 2 concerts from Montreal in 1991 and 1992 catch Tori right at the start of her solo career. The first, from July 1991, was filmed a few months before the release of her Little Earthquakes album and the second from July 1992 followed a few months after. There is a fascinating progression from one year to the next as she grows in confidence and skill as a live performer, buoyed by the critical and commercial success of the album. Most of the songs are taken from Little Earthquakes, bu there are also rare songs from her various EPs released across the 2 years which didn't make it onto the album.Tori Amos turned alt-rock inward with her intense and personal piano ballads, and helped usher in a striking new era of work by female singer-songwriters in the 1990s.This two-concert collection offers a fascinating glimpse of Amos's growth as an artist in the months straddling her revered 1992 solo debut, LITTLE EARTHQUAKES. Each filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the 1991 show features an introspective performance by a woman on the brink of success, while in the 1992 set, Amos plays with the added style and confidence of a musician riding critical acclaim. The remarkable concerts include her signature tracks 'Silent All These Years' and 'Crucify,' as well as rarities such as a cover of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit.'

Yet another one of the major Country Music Awards shows has graced us with its presence. I swear, I could enjoy one of these shows every month if they would air it! I never have been disappointed by the production compared to other major music awards shows out there. The talent is so good and the music is great. Can't ask for much more than that! This annual event comes to us LIVE from the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and was hosted by the always entertaining Reba McEntire.

"Barbra Streisand and Quartet at the Village Vanguard". Barbra Streisand is a performer of the highest caliber, able to imbue a performance with the highest level of actorly commitment, technical precision and dramatic finesse. She is as equally skilled as an actress as she is a singer and therefore is the ideal interpreter of the greatest material because she, herself, is so possessive of greatness. The only word left out of this admitted deification of the chanteuse is perhaps the most important descriptive term I have left out - and, at four letters, the most provocative - the one which says the most by saying the least about her: Star.
